This ongoing project seeks to capture with a noncritical eye the dual condition of people working in a vacational context in the Mediterranean beaches.
While providing publicly accepted services, their condition is often marginalized in a stereotypical context of non-integration and illegality, resulting in a paradox of familiar foreigner.
Vucumprà: Origin & history: Italian widespread neologism. Noun vucumprà (masc.) (invariable) A street vendor of African origin. An altering of vuoi comprare? ("do you want to buy?"), meant to sound non-native.
